We built a search tool that runs across all our local directories at the same time. Instead of searching for a plumber on one site, then switching to another site to search for an electrician, you search once and get results from all of them.

We did this because managing eleven separate directories was a nightmare. Every time we fixed something on one site, we had to fix it on ten others. One search tool means we fix it once and it works everywhere. It also means if you're looking for a service and you're not sure which directory to check, you don't have to guess anymore.

This is the first version. It works, but we're still tuning it. The idea is simple: one search, all our sites, no switching back and forth.
