Before, a rate could show up on a page and nobody knew if it came from a real shop, a national average, or a guess. Now every rate has to have a source. You can't type in a number without saying whether it came from a shop quote, a market report, or something else.
The system also checks the rates every month to see if they're still accurate. If they drift too far from what shops are actually charging, it gets flagged and fixed. No more stale data sitting around and misleading people.
