We built an app called Clip for recording and sharing videos. When you hit upload on your phone, the video shrinks down before it leaves your device. Same quality you'd see in the video, smaller file, faster trip to our servers.
This matters if you're on spotty cell service or satellite internet. Smaller files move quicker. You can close the app and come back later without worrying it'll stall halfway through.
Your original stays on your phone if you want it. The compressed version is what we keep.
