Eight pages are easier to read now.

When I build a website for a local print shop or a towing company, I write like I'm explaining it to someone at the bar, not a room full of MBAs. I kill jargon, cut long words, and make every sentence do one job.

Eight pages on the websites I built were still too dense. Longer sentences, fancier words, the kind of thing that makes people leave. I rewrote them so a sixth-grader could read them and get it.

It's not dumbing down. It's respecting your time. If you land on a site and the first paragraph takes three reads to understand, you're gone.
