We built a phone game that sends you around Corpus Christi to catch rare creatures

The game runs on your phone but gets you outside. Common creatures turn up anywhere. The rarest ones only appear at real spots around Corpus Christi, so catching them means walking across town and into neighborhoods you would not otherwise see.

We mapped 125 creatures to actual city locations. The set is tied to South Texas culture, with three starter creatures named after local food. The game tracks what you have caught and what is left to hunt.
