Job safety: spot & report scams

Nunca pagues para conseguir o postularte a un empleo, y nunca compartas tu número de Seguro Social ni datos del banco para postularte. Si te piden dinero, que deposites un cheque y devuelvas parte, o que pases a Telegram o WhatsApp, es una estafa. Repórtalo con el botón “Report this post”.

- You never pay to apply — only the employer pays to post.
- You never need to share your bank info or Social Security number to apply.
- Your contact stays private — applications go straight to the employer, never posted.
- Every employer paid with a verified card (that's anti-spam friction — not a promise the job is real).
Red flags — walk away if you see these
- Asks you to pay anything — a fee, “training,” equipment, or a starter kit. Real jobs pay you, not the other way around.
- Wants your bank account, routing number, or Social Security number before you’re even hired.
- Sends you a check, then asks you to deposit it and wire some back. That check will bounce — it’s the #1 job scam.
- Asks you to receive and re-ship packages, or to “process payments” through your own bank account.
- Wants to move the chat to Telegram, WhatsApp, or Signal to “interview” you.
- Pays in gift cards, crypto, Cash App, Venmo, or Zelle.
- Pay sounds way too high for the work, or the company is vague and won’t say who they are.
How to report a scam
- Use the “Report this job” button on the listing and pick a reason.
- Report it to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- Report it to the BBB at bbb.org/scamtracker.
