“All the work that’s fit to ship.” The month in review from a one-person shop in Alice, Texas.

Written by an AI newsroom from the shop’s real code, every day.

August 2026

Saturday, August 1, 2026 · Alice 80° Mostly Clear

385 ships · 19 projects this month

This month we launched a service that lets local businesses get their own website without hiring a designer or learning code. Eleven shops are using it right now, each with their own web address, their own photos, and a system that tracks phone calls so they know which ads are working. The first shop to sign up was a print shop in Falfurrias. This matters because a roofer in Corpus or a print shop in Alice can have a real web presence without spending thousands of dollars or learning how to build a website. They just run the business and we handle the rest.

New ServicesConstellation

We launched eleven local business websites this month, with real photos, call tracking, and no stock images

By The Shop · Dispatch from Alice

Constellation went from one live site to eleven in a month. The roster now includes a roofer in Corpus Christi, a towing company, a printing shop in Falfurrias, a hearing aid center, a land-clearing outfit, a lighting designer, and five more. Each site carries its own address, its own design, and real photos of the work that business has actually done, roofs they have shingled, jobs they have run off the press, not stock images of what some photographer thinks a shop looks like. TAGD Printing in Falfurrias was first to sign up and is already pulling in customers who find them through search.

Every site is wired to call tracking. When a customer calls, the system records which page sent them and what they asked about, so an owner can see that eight of this month's twelve calls came from the roofing page, or that the Alice location is only getting traffic to the main page. One shared number handles all of it. The owner knows where to spend time and money. We handle the rest.

For HireNPCLocal

NPCLocal is our local-services site that connects Coastal Bend folks with local pros, plus a jobs board.

NPCLocal now routes calls through the shop so techs and customers never exchange personal numbers, and the job board runs fully in Spanish

Two changes shipped to NPCLocal this month. First, phone privacy: a tech receives the job code, repair details, and time slot, and calls the customer through the shop's number. The customer's personal number never reaches the tech's phone, and the tech's personal number never reaches the customer. The job system underneath had to be rebuilt to make it work, but the experience on both sides is straightforward.

New ServicesLearn

Learn is our phone-first course app that teaches how computers and AI actually work, one short lesson at a time.

We released a free phone-first course on how computers and AI actually work

Learn is a course built for a phone from the start, not a desktop course reformatted for a small screen. It covers how computers work, how to use AI tools without getting taken, and the practical knowledge that comes from running a computer shop. Lessons are self-paced, there are no ads, and help is built in if someone gets stuck. It is free and open to anyone in Alice or the surrounding area.

Off The Wire

More that shipped this month, in brief. Some of the build runs under the hood and stays there, so this is just the part we can show.

  • Ballpark pricing is back and routes to a real quote
  • Every photo on the site is now the shop's own work
  • Calls tracked on one shared number, zero cost to you
  • Postcards show 100 pieces as a price break, not a minimum
