385 ships · 19 projects this month

This month we launched a service that lets local businesses get their own website without hiring a designer or learning code. Eleven shops are using it right now, each with their own web address, their own photos, and a system that tracks phone calls so they know which ads are working. The first shop to sign up was a print shop in Falfurrias. This matters because a roofer in Corpus or a print shop in Alice can have a real web presence without spending thousands of dollars or learning how to build a website. They just run the business and we handle the rest.

You find eleven local shops online easily.

From Corpus Christi to Falfurrias, each shop shows real photos and you can call them directly.

By The Shop · Dispatch from Alice

A month ago we had one website running. Today we have eleven, and they all work the same way. A roofer in Corpus, a towing company, a printing shop in Falfurrias, a hearing aid center, a land-clearing outfit, a lighting designer, and five more. Each one is a real business with a real phone number and real photos of the work they do.

The payoff is simple: when someone searches for a roofer in Corpus or a printer in Alice, they find a business that looks real. Not a template that could be any business. Not a national average price. A shop that knows their town, shows their actual work, and answers the phone. We track every call so the owner knows which ads are bringing in customers.

New ServicesConstellation

You see real photos of a shop's work.

Stock photos are lazy. A customer looking for a roofer wants to see roofs this shop has actually shingled. A printing shop should show jobs they've actually run. So we went back through all eleven sites and swapped out the generic pictures for real work.

Business owners know which ads are bringing in calls.

A phone call is the only thing that matters. An owner doesn't care how many people visited the site if nobody picked up the phone. So we wired call tracking into all eleven websites. When a customer calls, the system records which page they came from and what they asked about.

For HireNPCLocal

NPCLocal is our local-services site that connects Coastal Bend folks with local pros, plus a jobs board.

Your phone number stays private from techs.

We learned the hard way that how we handle phone numbers matters. A tech gets a job code, the repair details, the time slot, and a button to call you through our system. That call comes from the shop's number, not the tech's personal number. You don't hand out your personal information.

New ServicesLearn

Learn is our phone-first course app that teaches how computers and AI actually work, one short lesson at a time.

You learn computers and AI on your phone.

Not everyone learns on a laptop. A lot of folks in Alice and the surrounding area learn on their phone between jobs or at home. So we built a course that works on a phone from the start. Not a desktop course that got squeezed down to fit a small screen. A course built for a phone.

New ServicesAdhere

Adhere is our shared direct-mail postcard program for Coastal Bend businesses, one local pro per trade.

You claim postcard offers easily.

We send postcards for local businesses. A customer gets a postcard in the mail, scratches off a code, and claims the offer online. The old way made them fill out a form and jump through PayPal. It was clunky.

For BusinessesNPC Fix

NPC Fix is our remote support app: we connect to your computer over the internet and fix it, no house call needed.

Remote support works smoother.

Remote support over the internet used to feel sluggish. A tech would click something and wait a half-second for the screen to catch up. That kills productivity. We spent the last month reworking the whole connection and how clicks get processed.

Just For FunHaha

The smart cooler site looks finished.

We built a smart cooler that keeps drinks cold and talks to your phone. The website looked like a draft. This month we redesigned it with real photos of the cooler, real copy about what it does, and a design that doesn't apologize.

Techs can change their hours faster.

A tech's schedule should be easy to change. They work Monday and Wednesday this week, only evenings next week, off for a funeral. Life happens. The old system made them tap through screens and confirm choices. Setting hours took forever.

Invoices handle tax better.

Tax is complicated. A customer might be tax-exempt. A job might span two months with different tax rates. An invoice has to show the truth. For a long time our invoices just guessed at the tax rate and hoped.

Off The Wire

More that shipped this month, in brief. Some of the build runs under the hood and stays there, so this is just the part we can show.

  • Ballpark pricing is back and routes to a real quote
  • Every photo on the site is now the shop's own work
  • Calls tracked on one shared number, zero cost to you
  • Postcards show 100 pieces as a price break, not a minimum
